Terms of Service
Last updated: 14 July 2026
1. Who we are
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of DismissalCheck, a service that helps people facing redundancy in the UK search past employment tribunal decisions and chat through what they mean, operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], of [REGISTERED/BUSINESS ADDRESS] ("DismissalCheck", "we", "us", "our").
By checking the agreement box when you create an account, or by otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].
DismissalCheck is not a firm of solicitors, does not carry out reserved legal activities under the Legal Services Act 2007, and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Nothing on the service creates a solicitor-client relationship between you and us.
2. The service
DismissalCheck lets you search published UK employment tribunal decisions and chat with an AI assistant about how past cases relate to your situation. The service is provided on a subscription basis, with a free tier and paid tiers offering higher usage limits — see our pricing page for current plans and limits.
DismissalCheck shows information from published tribunal decisions. It is not legal advice and does not replace advice from a qualified solicitor or ACAS.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the service.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account.
- You must provide accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date.
- We may ask you to enable two-factor authentication to help keep your account secure.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly, unless stated otherwise) via our payment processor, Stripe.
- You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time from Settings. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing period unless stated otherwise.
- Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend access to paid features until the balance is settled.
- We may change our pricing from time to time; we'll give you reasonable notice before any change takes effect on your account.
5. Your responsibilities
DismissalCheck is a research tool to help you understand past tribunal outcomes — it is not a substitute for professional legal advice, and we are not a firm of solicitors.
- You're responsible for how you use the information and chat answers we provide, and for verifying anything important with a qualified solicitor or ACAS before acting on it.
- You're responsible for meeting any deadlines relevant to your own employment situation (for example, employment tribunal time limits) — the service does not track these for you.
- If you're unsure about your legal position, you should seek advice from a qualified solicitor or ACAS.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose;
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other users' accounts, or our systems;
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to reverse engineer it;
- Use the service to send spam or malicious content, or to scrape or resell our data or AI outputs; or
- Share your account with others.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.
7. Third-party services
The service connects to third parties to work, including our authentication and database provider, Stripe (for payments), and an AI processing provider (for chat answers). Your use of these integrations is also subject to those providers' own terms, and their availability or accuracy is outside our control. See our Privacy Policy for more on how data is shared with these providers.
8. AI chat and case search
Chat answers and case search results are generated by an AI model to assist you, but may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate, and are drawn from published tribunal decisions rather than being legal advice. You should verify anything important with a qualified solicitor or ACAS before relying on it.
In particular, any dates, deadlines, or time limits mentioned in chat (for example, time limits for bringing an employment tribunal claim) are illustrative only and must not be relied on. Time limits depend on the specific facts of your case and can be extended or affected by early conciliation with ACAS — always confirm your own deadlines directly with ACAS or a solicitor, and do so in good time, since a missed deadline can permanently bar a claim.
9. Intellectual property
We and our licensors own all rights in the service, including its software, design, and branding. The underlying tribunal decisions are public record published by the UK government; our organisation, search, and summaries of that material are our own work product.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties not expressly stated in these Terms, and we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that third-party systems it depends on will always be available.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We don't exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't be excluded by law.
11. Suspension and termination
You can close your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably suspect fraudulent or unlawful use. Where practical, we'll give you notice first.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example as our service or legal obligations change. We'll update the "last updated" date above, and if the changes are significant, we'll notify you by email or an in-app notice. Continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
